Hi, I was following instructions to root my Nexus 4 on a Ubuntu computer. I had nearly reached home when my finger slipped at Superuser file download. I inadvertently hit sideload. Now my Nexus 4 is stuck on ClockworkMod Recovery, waiting for the file and I can’t switch it off or do anything. The file is on the computer in my Nexus4root directory. How can I unblock the situation?
Thanks a million in advance for your help.

Hi, was trying to root using your video but in cmd when trying to back up after typing in adb backup -apk -all -f backup.ab hit enter then it says adb: unable to connect for backup, help

Make sure USB Debugging is checked in developer options. Otherwise it won’t connect to your computer. If it still doesn’t work, what worked for me was to turn off USB Debugging, turn off developer options, unplug USB cable, reboot phone, plug in USB cable, and turn on USB debugging again.
        Hope it helps.

        • JackyD says:

I know I have debugging on, but the same thing happens. This is my first time rooting and I’m some-what confused. When I tried to put in the adb back up thing it said something about a daemon port. I really need help >_>.

Check if there are any popups on the phone after you see this message in cmd. In my case I had a message asking me if I want to allow the backup from the connected device.

Hey, I’m having a bit of a problem with my nexus. I’ve Rooted and installed a new on my nexus which is great but the only problem is that when some calls me or I make a phone call I can’t hear anything, no dialing tone and the person who I call can’t hear me or I can’t them.

please please some help me fix this problem cause it getting annoying and plus the main reason for a phone is to make calls right?…

Currently running: Bean Stalk on a 4.3

    • Usman says:

Hey. I’ve the same issue with my rooted Samsung Galaxy s4. I installed the Google Play edition S4 stock rom on my s4. Works great except for the no dial tone when making calls and not being able to hear the other person and vice versa. I’ve used viber to make sure that it’s not the hardware issue and I’m able to make phone calls with viber without a glitch. Any workarounds that I’ve found are basically clearing data/cache (in app settings) and restarting the phone. It’s the reboot that temporarily fixes this issue not clearing data/cache. Have you had any luck with fixing this issue on your device.

    Hi zedomax.
I’m trying to root my new nexus 4 and have got as far as the command prompt screen but I’m stuck at “cd downloads Nexus4Root”.
It’s telling me something like file not present (not sure exactly as I’m not at my PC now).
My nexus 4 is running the 4.3 version from when I bought it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated to get me rooted.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,

    • Roy says:

      cd ‘downloads’

      cd ‘nexus4root’

This refers to the location of the folder you downloaded from the website (in the author’s case the name of the downloaded folder is nexus4root and it is placed in the download folder, hence the cd download and the cd nexus4root)

Therefore replace them with your own location!

      Thank You.

  12. tkras says:

    Hi All

I followed all steps up to step 22. where is was about to run the SU zip file. I had, however, transferred the unzipped file and so I tried going back so I could transfer the zip file and run it. In this process I hit “go back” when I was prompted with “ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?”. Instead of “Yes” as I should have done. Now my phone wont enter recovery mode and says “no command” when I try. It boots and works just fine. Just cant access recovery mode to run the SU zip.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
