For this week’s Nexus 4 ROM of the week, check out latest Android 4.3 version of Carbon ROM.

Carbon ROM features a mix of AOKP ROM Control-like settings called “Carbon Fibers”, HALO floating notification (from ParanoidAndroid ROM), custom list animations, Focal camera (from CM10.2), and some more.

It has a slightly different “personality” than other custom ROMs and that’s what I really like about it while performance and battery life is solid.  If you are looking for a good custom ROM with a good level of customization, definitely check out Carbon ROM this week(end) and do let me know what you think!

Download Carbon ROM for Nexus 4

Download Android 4.3 Gapps (for all, DO NOT USE Android 4.2 Gapps, they will FC!)

Download Flash Player APK (if you want flash player)

DownloadAndroid 4.3 PhotoSphere (if you want photosphere, but may force close so make a backup of your Gallery app using Titanium Backup app before installing!  )

To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps and reboot.   (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)

    Hi Max!

I’m on the verge of modding my Nexus 4. I was planning to use Paranoid, but your review of Carbon messed up everything 😉

Since there are a lot of additions to these ROM’s compared to stock, I have a question: Is it possible to keep a “scorecard” on ROM’s where one can see what additions/options are available for each ROM? This would make the life of us NOOBS so much easier…

I’m also curious what Nexus 4 ROM has your preference at this moment.

    Did anybody test this rom?
I really liked it on the video but i don’t want to flash it before i know it is stable and not draining battery. Also hopefully no important bugs in it.
I am new to G4 and at the moment have the original 4.3 ROM.

I have to say I’ve tried a lot of your recommended ROMs.
Beanstalk would be my favourite only for it doesn’t seem too stable at times.
Carbon is the one I’m using at the minute and I DO LIKE this one … a lot…but I cannot get Photosphere back on my NEXUS 4.
I’ve read a few forums and tried a few things but to no avail… yet.
I would appreciate any help or advice on how to install Photosphere onto my GOOGLE NEXUS 4, 4.3, Running CARBON ROM,
    Thanks in advance

Just downloaded all the files and plan on taking a look at this today 🙂
Looks like a good ROM and is the first one i’m going to try on my Nexus 4.
Installed along with gapps but it seems to get stuck on the C loading screen at startup. Gonna reenter recovery and whipe caches and factory reset to see if that works. Fingers crossed lol

and magic. I’ll post a more indepth review once I play around with this for afew days to see how stable it is.

    Hi again,
I got sorted with Photosphere on my Nexus 4 running this amazing Carbon ROM.
I eventually found it through xda developers website from a link to BaNKs

Also I managed to get PIE control from LMT – also from xda developers website just by installing the most up to date one straight to my phone.

No problems with either – touch wood!!!!
Absolutely love Carbon – I tried Beanstalk which is also very good with lots of cool features but it caused some problems with the camera and there a few small niggly problems so I tried Carbon.

This is my second phone that I have rooted – the first being a HTC WILDFIRE BUZZ A333 and I think I’ve got the bug for rooting. etc.
So big THANKS to all developers, etc

It is my favourite rom. I love it!

  7. Wicklow says:

Will this rom supports baseband .33? I need this baseband to have 4G connectivity. Thanks.

  8. Ricardo says:

this is a very stable ROM, i had to switch to this one cause the beanstalk ROM was very very buggy !! -_-
