Google has finally pushed out a brand, new version of Google Android Operating System with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.
UPDATE: Official Android 4.4 stock firmware with root is now available!
While Google is working to push out the official version of Android 4.4 on the Nexus 4, you can already grab a ported version (from Nexus 5) with root for your Nexus 4.
With latest Android 4.4 KitKat, you will be able to take advantage of stuff like prioritized contacts, enhanced Photo Editor, QuickOffice app, SMS/MMS integrated to Hangouts app, Google Now waking up upon “Okay Google” (just like Google Glasses), and lots more.

Download KitKat Android 4.4 ROM for Nexus 4
Download Android 4.4 Gapps (DO NOT USE OLDER 4.3 Gapps you will FC!!!)
Download SuperSU 1.65 (You need to install this to get FULL root)
To install, reboot into recovery, make backup ROM, wipe data/factory reset, install ROM, install Gapps, install SuperSU, and reboot. (If for some reason you end up in a bootloop, reboot into recovery, go to Advanced Wipe for TWRP or Mounts & Storage for CWM, format/wipe /system, then re-install ROM.)
Download Flash Player APK (if you want flash player use with Dolphin browser)
DownloadAndroid 4.3 PhotoSphere (if you want photosphere, but may force close so make a backup of your Gallery app using Titanium Backup app before installing! )

I flashed the custom radio (modem) to my Nexus 4 that gives me LTE, if I flash the Android 4.4 Kit Kat rom ported from the Nexus 5to my Nexus 4, will I still have the LTE capabilities?

I followed the instructions and have now lost root? What can I do now please?!
I have also found ‘OK Google’ in the new launcher to not be working for me.
For the ”OK Google”, the phone need to be in English US
Also it says that the super su binary cannot be installed.
Guys first off you gotta be ROOTED so hopefully none of you are trying this running stock. As for the ROM and instructions they are spot on…I just flashed 4.4 with the Gapps and Superuser (even though I already had it I flashed again to be safe) and 4.4 Kitkat is working like a charm on my Nexus 4. As for losing ROOT that happened to me as well but Clockwork Recovery should’ve given you a heads up before rebooting via a message that says “Fix ROOT, this cannot be undone” and you must click YES or when your phone reboots you will have lost ROOT. If this happened the ONLY way to get ROOT back is to restore to one of your backed up ROMS when you had ROT or reROOT your phione all over again, that’s all you can do. Anyways guys I’ll tell ya that I’m all about the “latest & greatest” when it comes to Google OS’s but after 1 day of running Kitkat I’m already bored and have flashed back to PACman ROM v23.0.0. After custom ROMS stock Android just doesn’t have enough customuization’s for me. Let me know if you agree but I already scrapped vanilla 4.4 for a custom PAC ROM
Yeah followed the instructions exactly but still have issues.
I’m going to revert back to my old aokp Rom and try again another time.
I agree that the lack of customising is annoying coming from aokp but it does feel slick. Action launcher went on straight away though. Can’t stand icons! It’s so ios…
I had the same Super SU no binary issue.
I had to update my CWM recovery to the latest and it worked flawlessly.
I updated CWM recovery and it worked. 🙂
Still no OK Google though but I would sacrifice that for Action Launcher anyway so it doesn’t bother me.
With 4.4 BT audio link now repeatedly drops after 5 min or so. :o(

I have the same issue, can’t turn on the wi-fi
i can turn wifi on but it is stuck on obtaining IP no matter what i do.
I had the same problem, turn off wifi and turn it on again. If it doesn’t work, forget the network, turn wifi off and turn it on and connect your phone to the network. And if it doesn’t work again 😛 , forget the network, turn wifi off turn off your phone, turn on your phone, the wifi and connect your phone to the network 😛 If it does work, you got the wrong password 😛

Flash is not support by 4.4..
The systems seems to be working, but the HOME button is not. Anyone is having the same issue?

In order for the installation to work and for you to get root access after 4.4, you need to update CWM to the latest 6.0.4.3. I was getting “no su binary installed…….you need to manually re-root…” until I updated CWM to 6.0.4.3. and finally it worked.
One more thing, after I flashed 4.4, the google keyboard kept crashing and it made a really huge mess with other apps. The back button wasnt working. I looked for a way to fix it in vain, until downloaded the google keyboard apk then installed it manually. it fixed the issue. Unfortunately, it only fixes the crashing until next re-boot. you have to re-do it once you re-boot your Nexus 4. t works flawlessly though. I like the Kikat

I know… Especially with 3G on 😛 But two times this week, my phone just lost 94% of battery in 2 hours and was really hot… I wasn’t even using it… it was on sleep…

okay so i downloaded your mod into my rooted nexus 4 that used to have android 4.4 BEFORE i updated it and the wifi, bluetooth, speaker and microphone all dont work!!! HELP me i dont know what to do!!!
Hello. This rom is great and stable but i have one issue, whenever i try to tether my wifi, my nexus 4 freezes and reboots. Other then that great rom and it would be great if you could help me out on that, thanks!!
