For those of you who want to root and try a bunch of different custom ROMs, I highly recommend you to use the Titanium Backup app.

This video tutorial will show you how to backup and restore your apps (along with your app data) when installing different custom ROMs. This will help you to easily restore your phone back to normal after installing a custom ROM.

Most custom ROMs will require you to do a wipe data/factory reset, which will erase all of your settings and apps. By using apps like Titanium backup app, you can easily backup and restore your apps. Even better, if you get a new Android phone, you can use this app to transfer all of your current apps with data to your new phone.

Also, I highly recommend you to buy the Titanium Backup PRO key, which is around $5.99 USD and totally worth it if you plan on trying new custom ROMs for the future. I don’t have any association with Titanium Backup app developers and I only recommend them because they’ve been around and Titanium Backup app does a whole lot more than backing up and restoring apps. You can also do cool stuff like un-install/freeze bloatware apps or even convert a non-system apps to system apps easily.

If you need to save your SMS text messages, you will need to back them up separately using an SMS Text backup app. There’s a bunch of them on the Play Store so don’t forget to do that if you need your SMS text messages backed up as Titanium doesn’t do it right.

So, don’t forget to backup your apps before installing a custom ROM!

Is this different than making a backup in Clockwork mod recovery and having the PlayStore automatically download and update all your apps, which mine does when I revert back to stock?

  2. Sergio says:

I backed everything up on Titanium and when I flashed my phone and turned it back on, the folder with the back ups were deleted also?
