If you have been watching the tech news lately, you’ve probably noticed that Android 4.3 has been out for Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition.  I have absolutely no idea why Google decided to launch Android 4.3 on the S4 first but no worries, we finally have Android 4.3 for Nexus 4 also.

If you are already rooted and have CWM recovery installed, upgrading to Android 4.3 is really easy, just flash the Android 4.3 ROM using CWM recovery.  To get full root, also just flash ChainFire’s latest SuperSU in CWM recovery.

Already have Android 4.3? Looking for Android 4.3 root? See How to Root Nexus 4 instead.

That’s it!

As for major differences between Android 4.2.2 and 4.3?

Not too much other than camera and various minor settings, if you find anything really cool however, don’t forget to let me know.  Also you can get Android 4.3 camera on any Android 4.2.2 ROMs already.

NOTE: This is a completely “stock” Android 4.3, no changes to it in any way.

    • admin says:

      • Nexus Lover says:

Hey, I just wanted to ask whether I can download the faux kernel on 4.3 or not. I have a rooted nexus 4 running 4.3 and I wanna overclock(to 1.9 GHz) and change the gamma as I previously did on 4.2.2 using faux kernel and it’s pro app. Can I download the faux kernel for 4.2.2 on 4.3?

  2. Nate Johnson says:

So when you flash using cwm should you wipe cache and delvik cache and wipe data???

    • admin says:

Just a factory reset/data wipe should do for most, if you have trouble, just format /system and /data and try fresh reinstall, I don’t mess with cache anymore.

  3. Des says:

it was working ok til I reboot my phone to change the fonts using iFont. since then, my phone keep in boot loop and I had to restore to the older version again. had tried this twice, thanks

    • admin says:

Changing fonts can do that sometimes, you might want to backup ROM before changing fonts.

      • Des says:

Well you might be right, but it was ok when i used CM10 and MIUI. It didn’t work only with this ROM. Could it be because the iFont hasn’t supported the 4.3 version? Btw is this the leaked version or the official one?

        Thanks

        • Nexus Lover says:

It’s the official one. I have done it and it’s awesome. However I’m anxiously waiting for a custom kernel so that I can overclock my CPU/GPU, change the gamma settings, etc. REALLY waiting for it.

          • Des says:

Btw the iFonts app is working now but not the franco kernel.. Hopefully it will come out soon =)

            Thanks

  4. The Name says:

ChainFire SuperSU works for my Nexus 7 4.3 (wifi only) with stock Kernel too :) !!
Flashed with TWRP Recovery with MultiRom Extension.
    Good work (:

  5. Jb says:

can you tell me why my dialer isnt working after i flased 4.3

  6. Gordon says:

Have done a factory reset, installed via cwm (zip) and then flashed super SU (by chainfire) using cwm via zip.
Checked for root via root checker and still no root….

    help

    • Nexus Lover says:

That’s because you did a factory reset., don’t worry I did it too(accidentally). 😛 I’ll now root when there is a custom kernel available for 4.3 jelly bean. :)

  7. Gordon says:

ah right… As I click on “restart device” (or something similar to that) in CWM after flashing super SU, I usually selected “Fix” when it said the ROM could flash a recovery. That’s caused my phone not to root properly. I selected on “No” and rebooted. Checked with root checker and all good.

    Hope this helps.

  8. EAR says:

  11. q7joey says:

i am very confused. i have flashed the 4.3 image from this page, and i can get root via adb. but other apps can’t get root, and all the various ways i’ve tried installing supersu fail as well. i flashed rom via cwm, as i did the previous 4.2.2 rom and that all worked fine. i’ve tried flashing 1.51 supersu and also installing from play, neither of those seem to work.

it seems like other people are having some issues with supersu as well, but i haven’t been able to figure out what is getting in the way. anyone have some clues to throw my way?

    • q7joey says:

of course as soon as i post, i manage to come up with something that works, but i still have no idea how.

i installed again via cwm, but when it asked about ‘rom may flash stock recovery on boot’ i said no. previously i had always answered yes (the default). things still weren’t working after that. then i went into apps and told it to uninstall supersu. that then asked if i wanted to revert to system, which i asumed would fall back to the original superuser app, but instead, supersu started actually working.

i don’t really know if any of those steps were the ticket, or the combination, or just trying it again for the nth time. i am now rebooting just to make sure that supersu continues to work… yep, seems to have stuck.

so now i am more confused that before, but at least less irritated. maybe this will help others running into the same situation as me.
